Giving to God a portion of what we earn weekly is a way that we worship God. Old Covenant believers were required to give 10% (“tithe”) as a type of tax, in addition to other offerings. In the New Covenant, believers are encouraged to give their resources (money, time, abilities, lives) to God and to proclaim God's Kingdom. Since everything a person has ultimately comes from God, giving to a local church is an incredible opportunity to use financial means to participate in God’s work through the local church.
Our giving philosophy at Hope Northwest is to encourage believers to give God at least a minimum of 10% of all our income. Because God has given us infinitely more through His Son, 10% seems like a great starting place. The goal is to continue to grow in the spiritual discipline of giving, so that 10% would continue to increase. As our finances continue to grow, this could be an opportunity to give to God more.
The leadership at Hope Northwest realizes that there are many expenses in operating a church in America. Because of this, they work to keep costs down so that most of the money raised goes directly into ministry. For example, any money raised will not be going to Pastor Nick or his family, but 100% will be going towards the church. This is also why Pastor Nick worked to obtain his doctorate and is bi-vocational in his career.

What Does the Bible Say About Giving?
Luke 6:38
2 Corinthians 9:7
Matthew 6:3-4
"Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”
"Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
"But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you."
